Soothing Fear: Mining the Depths of Renewal
Saturday, January 6, 2018, 1-4pm
with Barbara Carlson and Lori Furbush
In the depths of winter, we witness the unadorned landscapes of the natural world. The bare trees and dormant foliage reveal previously hidden shapes of meandering riverbeds or rolling hills. As nature rests, we, too, draw our energies inward—conserving, strengthening, and reconnecting to the essential questions, aspirations, and yearnings that are manifesting for us at this time. As we engage in this quiet in-dwelling time, we may encounter fear: Can we meet the challenges ahead? Are we prepared to live the life we imagine? These fears can leave us feeling stuck or “frozen” like water in a wintertime pond. We can, however, use this time of rest and reflection to replenish ourselves to emerge with renewed self-sufficiency and a strengthened will to take purposeful actions that help us fulfill our deepest yearnings. In this 3-hour workshop, we will explore skills to help us facilitate the essential energies of winter through:
Qigong • Guided Individual Practice/Reflection • Group Discussion
Barbara Carlson facilitates classes and retreats that focus on a variety of behavioral health and emotional wellness themes with an emphasis on cultivating awareness and health of mind, body, and spirit.
